Workshop - learn how to use river cane in agriculture
Proactivetur and TASA Project is teaming up with the QRER Cooperative to teach gardeners and the curious how to use cane in agricultural activities, with applications that can be useful both in flowerbeds and in family or community gardens.
The workshop takes place on October 26 (registration closes on October 23) in the Querença area (Loulé) between 09:00 and 17:00.
In this activity, two master craftsmen from the TASA network will teach how to make structures for potting green beans, tomato plants or other climbing plants.
It's an opportunity for participants to roll up their sleeves and learn all the stages of the process, from harvesting the cane by the Benémola stream to making and installing the structures in a local vegetable garden in Querença.
The river cane is used ancestrally in rural activities and harvesting it is useful because it is an invasive species that spreads easily and needs to be managed to preserve the balance of the riverside ecosystem.
This workshop is part of the QRER Cooperative's cultural program “Invitation to the Interior”, developed with the aim of helping to affirm the interior of the Algarve as a place of culture and creativity. It benefits from the support program for associations of the Municipality of Loulé.
