Proactivetur was among the 100 companies recognised with the ‘Sustainability Engaged’ seal, a level of distinction awarded by Turismo de Portugal as part of the “Tourism 360 Programme”. It was with great satisfaction that our work, which from the outset has been guided by the mission to promote sustainable tourism in the Algarve and Baixo Alentejo, was recognised in this way.

The event took place on 25 September 2024 in Alcobaça and was attended by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado, and the President of Turismo de Portugal, Carlos Abade.

The ‘ESG Engaged’ seal reflects the commitment of tourism companies to environmentally responsible practices, through the implementation of concrete and measurable measures, which have been reported through the Organisational Tool for Reporting Sustainability in Tourism (FOREST).

We joined the ‘Empresas Turismo 360’ programme in 2021 and after reporting our sustainability performance for 2022 and 2023 in the Forest tool, we were awarded the seal.

We believe it is essential for companies to join this programme, as it is a way of organising themselves and giving them the tools they need to adopt best practices in various areas of sustainability - ‘Environmental, Social, and Governance’ (ESG).

It can't be said that the process is easy and immediate, but it is designed so that companies can evolve along the right path, establishing and monitoring indicators adjusted to their size and reality, capable of making them more efficient, more in line with international market demands and, above all, contribute to this noble national mission.

‘The 360º Tourism Companies Programme aims to promote responsible practices in the environmental, social and governance pillars, ensuring that companies have better access to funding, optimised efficiency and a more sustainable financial performance. This programme is part of the pillars of Turismo de Portugal and aims to position the country as one of the most competitive and sustainable tourist destinations in the world.’ (in Turismo de Portugal)
