In Silves, prepare to be transported to another place in time. We start our Food Tour by paying a visit to the local market, recently renovated but keeping all its old charm. Inside you will learn about local produce, fresh fish and traditional products – there is also a surprise for you to get your taste buds ready for the rest of the tour.

We will then start to wander the small streets and alleyways, making our way inside what was as old Medina (Arab city) with over 1000 years of existence. The Arabs remained on this city for 500 years and left an undeniable legacy that can still see, touch and feel. 

We will go around the old city walls and catch sight of the catedral, who was previously a mosque, and also the Castle of Alcazar of Silves. After our stroll we will stop at a local venue to give it a try of the local flavours, influenced by the people who successively lived in Silves and that are the base of our Mediterranean cuisine. You will love it!

After this experience we will continue our way down in direction to the river Arade, once the main reason for the location of this beautiful city, and try some local pastry along with the stories about this ancient capital of the Algarve.
